Situated in the heart of England, the City of Worcester is easily accessible from north, south, east and west. Being centrally located and close to the M5 motorway also makes it the perfect base from which to visit some of England’s finest countryside and neighbouring towns and villages such as The Cotswolds, the Malverns Hills and Stratford-upon-Avon.

Worcester is a vibrant city where you will discover an interesting blend of old and new, heritage and tradition, a thriving arts scene, a superb range of retail outlets including specialist shops and continental restaurants with an air of sophistication.

Apart from the magnificent Cathedral which hosts the internationally acclaimed Three Choirs Festival (the next is in 2005), a visit to Royal Worcester is a must – its Visitor Centre, factory tours , Museum of Worcester Porcelain and factory shops make a fascinating day out. The Commandery, City Art Gallery and Museum, with its changing programme of art exhibitions and The Greyfriars (National Trust) provide an insight into the City’s past. Three miles outside the City at Lower Broadheath, the Elgar Birthplace Museum and new Elgar Centre tell the story of the life, music, family and friends of Sir Edward Elgar.

Sporting events are part of the scene at Worcester where National Hunt Racing, County Cricket, Rowing and National League Rugby can be enjoyed.

A stroll along the riverside should also be incorporated into your visit to Worcester – the award winning floral displays at North Quay are a delight, as are the host of swans always in evidence on the water. Regular boat trips are on offer too and back in the High Street guided city walks are available from the Guildhall.
