Many people who visit Bromsgrove for the first time are surprised by the range of attractions to be found in this busy Worcestershire market town.

Here you will find Georgian buildings and timber framed and gabled houses, the parish church of St John, which stands on the hill where its Saxon predecessor once stood, Bromsgrove School which dates back to the 1500’s and still retains part of its 17th Century structure and where Bromsgrove's famous son, AE Housman, author of “A Shropshire Lad”, was educated.

In the centre of the town is Bromsgrove Museum which gives an insight into local history with displays of past crafts and industry such as nail, glass, lead, button and salt making. The Bromsgrove Guild (a unique organization of specialist craftsmen founded in 1894 and famous in the English speaking world for its skills) is also featured. In the early 1900’s the Guild was commissioned to design and produce the gates and railings to Buckingham Palace. The museum also incorporates a street scene of Victorian/Edwardian shops, including toys, costume, haberdashery, wireless, ladies hairdressing, shoes, millinery, gramophones, cameras, chemist, stationers, newsagent, jewellers and cobblers.

A short distance out of town is Avoncroft Museum of Buildings, where the visitor can see over 600 years of buildings all in an afternoon. Each building provides a fascinating snap-shot of life in its particular period.

Bromsgrove is surrounded by some beautiful countryside, undulating farmland rising in the north to the Clent and Lickey Hills, outstandingly attractive with exceptional views. Add to this a wide range of pleasantly situated shops, superb hotel accommodation, pubs and restaurants, you have the ideal place to visit.
