Cambridge Botanic Gardens
A flat county, dominated of course by Cambridge University. The city itself is one of the worlds ancient seats of learning. On the banks of the River Law, the college buildings with spires and turrets are truly stunning. Punting up the river on a warm summers day is a popular pastime in Cambridge.
The outlying county is mostly an agricultural region, but the cathedral city of Ely is well worth a visit. The cathedral, dating from 1081 is a splendid example of the perpendicular style and it was on these Fens that Hereward the Wake so valiantly defied the Normans.
Popular places to visit include Kings College and The University Botanic Garden in Cambridge, the magnificent Ely Cathedral, Wimpole Hall and many tohers that can be found within this Cambridgeshire section.
