Airth Castle Hotel, nr Falkirk

Stirling and The Trossachs is a delightful region at the heart of Scotland. It is bordered by Perth and Kinross to the north and north east, Argyll and Bute to the West and a plethora of counties to the south including Clackmannanshire, Falkirk, North Lanarkshire and East and West Dunbartonshire.

Stirling is a beautiful county with mountains, woodlands and rivers meandering their way across the county. The town of Stirling (literally meaning 'Place of Strife') has played a significant part in Scottish history with Stirling Castle sitting high and mighty upon a hill which was easy to defend against the enemy. Immediately south of Stirling is Bannockburn where the famous battle took place in 1314 during The Wars of Independence between Scotland and England where William Wallace (Braveheart) and Robert the Bruce won independence for Scotland against "The Auld Enemy".

In your quest to seek out Scotland's historic treasures you can gaze in awe at Stirling's heather clad peaks and tranquil lochs on your way to discovering an abundance of historic monuments and heritage sites including Stirling Castle and The National Wallace Monument
