Palace of Holyrood House
The historic capital city of Edinburgh is situated north of the Border region and sandwiched between East Lothian, Mid Lothian and West Lothian on the south coast of the Firth of Forth.
Edinburgh has a thriving tourist industry and is famous for the majestic Edinburgh Castle which gazes over this old city, then there is Palace of Holyrood House, The Queen's Gallery (the Queen's official residence in Scotland), the ever popular Edinburgh Festival which takes place each year between August and September and Edinburgh University - the fourth oldest university in Scotland.
There are myriad of historic attractions and heritage sites inlcuding The National War Museum, The Royal Museum and The Museum of Scotland all of which are under the umbrella of The National Museums of Scotland. Then there is Dalmeny House and Hopetoun House - both on the outskirts of Edinburgh at South Queensferry.
A trip to Scotland would be incomplete without a visit to this splendid historic city.
