Inveraray Castle
The region of Scotland known as The Scottish Heartlands include Argyll and the islands of The Inner Hebrides - Mull, Bute, Jura, Islay and Iona. Argyll is situated on the beautiful west coast, north west of Glasgow and is a very popular holiday destination with it's glens, it's many miles of lovely coastline and islands to enjoy.
The area benefits from the warm Gulf Stream, no more so than where the longest of Argyll's many peninsulas, Kintyre, points towards Northern Ireland almost touching the mainland at it's most northern point. This is The Mull of Kintyre, made famous in a song by Paul McCartney after the demise of The Beatles
The region of Argyll is also famous for its malt whisky particularly on the islands of Jura and Islay whilst the Argyll mainland is the home of Loch Lomond.
Tobermory on the Isle of Mull and Tarbert , Inveraray and Lochgilphead on the mainland are all popular places of interest but there is much more besides and plenty of time should be allowed to discover this splendid region of Scotland.
Some of the attractions in this region include:- Inveraray Castle (Inveraray), Kilchurn Castle (Loch Awe), Lachlan Castle (Loch Fyne), Fincham Castle, Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park
