The county of Northumberland is the most northern of the English counties bordering County Durham and Newcastle upon Tyne in the south, Cumbria and The Lake District to the west and, of course, Hadrians Wall and the Scottish Border country to the north.

Northumberland is brimming with historical interest with countless castles built to defend the English borders which have been the site of many historic battles through the centuries.

The landscape is full of contrast with The Cheviot Hills rising in the north west of the county against the flatlands along the coastline.

The Puffin inhabited Isle if Farne forms a part of Northumberland which also has a large National Park.

Historic Houses and Heritage Sites abound in Northumberland and include:- Alnwick Castle, Bamburgh Castle, Chillingham Castle, Belsay Hall Castle, Chesters Roman Fort, Lindisfarne Priory, Seaton Delaval Hall, Warkworth Castle and many many more.
