Max and Julia will do everything possible to make your stay enjoyable, whether your visit is for business or leisure. We are situated just 1 and a half miles from Reading Town Centre and the famous Oracle Shopping Mall. The original house was built in 1926 by Mr Fabrey, a Master Builder, for his own occupation. Mr Fabrey's Company is reputed to have built most of the properties in and around Grovelands Road in the first quarter of the 20th Century. Until 1980, the south eastern corner of the site was occupied by an old barn that served as a forge and blacksmith's shop for the brickworks, which were situated on what is now the Watermead estate. When the barn was demolished to make way for the annex, the timbers were recovered, sand-blasted, and exported to the USA to be used in the construction of a new dwelling. We hope your time in Reading will be rewarding and that you will enjoy your stay at The Old Forge. If you have any questions, please ask and we will do our best to answer them.
