This former 19th Century coaching inn is situated on the John O'Groats peninsula in the north coast village of Mey and only a short distance from the Queen Mother's Highland home, the Castle of Mey. Set in six acres of open parkland adjacent to the North of Scotland's principal tourist route it is ideally placed to cater for the holidaymaker. Management of the hotel is under the direct supervision of the resident owner who can assure you a warm Highland welcome and a pleasant stay in comfortable surroundings.
The hotel is centrally heated and has 8 twin, double or family rooms, all of which have an en-suite shower or bathroom, colour television and tea making facilities. In addition the Pentland Suite offers a double and a family room with an en-suite bathroom.

Dine in luxurious surroundings and enjoy a view of our picturesque landscaped courtyard through the magnificent bay window. Traditional Scottish high tea is served between 5.30 and 7.00pm and dinner between 7.00 and 9.00pm. For dinner we offer varied table d'hôte and grill menus which may include locally caught fresh salmon, crab and succulent steaks. We also have a large selection of fine wines.

The local heritage provides plenty of interest for visitors and exploration of the local attractions can take up as much or as little time as our guests like. The Royal Gallery, situated to the west end of the hotel, offers a unique photographic insight into the Queen Mother's life in Caithness. The gallery is open all year round, entry is free and selected prints are available to purchase.
There is something for everyone in Caithness, those who prefer to take it easy will find studying the abundance of seabirds and other other wildlife or exploring the coves and small harbours a fascinating experience. For the more energetic there is sea fishing, pony trekking and golf. Other attractions include Gills Bay, the Castle of Mey, Dunnet Head, Reay, Mary-Ann's Cottage, Dunnet Kirk, the Ranger Centre, Olrig Kirk and the Flagstone Heritage Trail.
