Carmichael is the place on which Queen Margaret established a church in the eleventh century on a hill fort 'caer' dedicated to Saint 'Michael' and is still owned and managed today by descendants of the original Chiefs. The fifteen listed historic stone cottages available to rent are generally from the eighteenth century with many signs of earlier landscape and historic building heritage including the ruins of Carmichael Castle at the core of the Estate. The thousand year history is also portrayed along with Scotland's Story at the Carmichael Visitor Centre using Tussaud quality Wax models. Restaurant and deer farm gift shop.
