  Just across the Northamptonshire fields from Althorp lies Holdenby House, a stately home whose royal connections go back over 400 years. Built by Sir Christopher Hatton to entertain Elizabeth I, it became the Palace of James I and the prison of his son, Charles I. Now a family home, the house is the splendid backdrop to a beautiful garden and Falconry Centre, where visitors can watch magnificent birds of prey soar over the scene of so much history.

Six miles from Northampton, Holdenby is a magnificent venue for corporate events and conferences, film and TV locations and weddings. It also runs an award-winning schools programme with educational projects on Medieval realms, the Tudors, the Victorians and World War II.

Holdenby House is a special place and we try to offer the perfect setting for very special weddings.

The house is a much-loved family home, not a cold commercial venue. This gives it such a warm and friendly atmosphere. Because it is lived in, Holdenby is available for weddings on only a handful of days each year. We want those days to be memorable for the couples who celebrate their weddings here.  

We do not accept more than one wedding (or any other function in the house) on the same day. The house and grounds will be exclusively yours while you are here. We would like you to feel that it is your own private home. You will not be shoe-horned in and out of the building or stared at by visiting tourists.
