Kew Palace online: information and bookings
Visit Kew Palace and the Royal Kitchens, the former home of King George III. Nestled in the heart of Kew Gardens, decide for yourself if George III really was mad.
Kew Palace was originally built as a private house for a merchant and later used by the royal family between 1728 and 1818, in conjunction with several nearby buildings, which sadly no longer exist.
Above all, the palace is a family home and King George III, his wife Queen Charlotte and their children are at the heart of the experience. Kew rang with their laughter and fun as family games and birthday celebrations provided welcome distractions from affairs of state. However, in later years the atmosphere darkened and as rivalries became more intense, relationships soured. The palace became a retreat for an ailing King and a virtual prison for his elder, unmarried daughters.
Kew Palace opens on 24 March 2016 and will close near the end of September 2016. Please check website for details.
