The No 1 Modern Wonder of Wales boasts the largest single-span glasshouse in the world and is set in more than 500 acres of fantastic, unspoilt, rolling Welsh countryside.

The Great Glasshouse is home to some of the most endangered plants on the planet from six Mediterranean climate regions – Western Australia, Chile, the Canaries, California, southern Africa, and the Mediterranean basin. There is a unique and historic double-walled garden; lakes, ponds and walks. Additional attractions include a theatre; licensed restaurant; shop; gallery; Japanese garden; bog garden and bee garden; Physicians of Myddfai Exhibition and Apothecaries’ Garden; children’s play area; discovery center and much more.

A stunning new tropical glasshouse can be found within the historic double walled garden. It is bursting with palms. pineapples, coconuts, cardamom and scores of orchids. Designed by internationally renowned Welsh born architect John Belle, the structure is more than 30 metres in length.

Many of these areas of interest are under cover and nearly all, easily accessible for wheelchair users.

Whatever your age, there is something for you at the most visited garden in Wales. Whatever time of year it is, the breathtaking views and remarkable sights and smells have to be experienced to be believed.

Facilities
Gift Shop, Plant Sales, Gatehouse, and the Gatehouse Coffee Shop, Seasons Restaurant

Restaurant
In the Seasons Restaurant, located in our Stable Block, we aim to use foods that are organic and as local as possible. This will be closed for refurbishment between November 5th and 25th. Instead, we’ll be opening the Med Cafe in the Great Glasshouse with a full menu and waiter service during this time.

“The Gatehouse Cafe” (Caffi’r Porthdy in Welsh) can be found at our Garden entrance and. like our Garden Plant Shop, doesn’t need an admission fee to use. It’s a lovely place to come and relax whilst enjoying the taste of Wales with our locally made and sourced light food food and drinks. There’s also the chance to buy Welsh made produce such as laverbread, jams, cheeses & cakes.

The Mediterranean Café, can be found in the Great Glasshouse.
