The Sportsman's Arms run since 1978 by Ray and Jane Carter and family, who are assisted by a team of dedicated friendly staff.

We have tried to create a relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere with cosy lounges, coal and log fires and a warm and welcoming Bar and Dining room.

After your evening meal, retire to one of our 12 bedrooms, all of which are centrally heated and have fully appointed bathrooms or shower rooms. Each room has television tea and coffee making facilities. Telephone and hair dryers.

The rooms consist of double or twin beds, some with antique four poster beds, either within the main hotel or in the stable or barn, which are situated some thirty yards away in the Hotel grounds.

Restaurant
The custom built kitchen lies at the heart of the Hotel. Ray and His team produce a variety of fish, including Turbot, Halibut, Sole and Woof plus Lobster, Crab and Prawns which are delivered daily from Whitby.

Local beef, Lamb and Pork together with a variety of superb game, whilst in season are carefully prepared for your enjoyment in the calm, softly lit dining room.

We pride ourselves on our friendly, yet unobtrusive service which makes each and every visitor feel truly at ease.

The Wine List, with over 140 Binns, demonstrates a particular skill in its choice. Offering a wide selection of styles and prices from traditional and lesser known regions of the World.

Fine vintage ports, brandies and liqueurs, plus a special interest in Malt Whisky and some excellent Champagnes are also available.
