An enchanting 10-acre garden on the western edge of Dartmoor. Terraced walled garden around romantic 16th century ruins. Rhododendrons, camellias and spring bulbs including snowdrops and erythroniums. Naturalistic herbaceous planting in cottage, quarry and South African gardens giving glorious colour all season. Wisteria bridges, dovecote, acer glade. New arboretum with lake and ornamental bridges. Children’s trail. Georgian tearooms. Plant Sales.

A favourite garden of Carol Klein.

Restaurant
The tearooms are situated in the 18th century vicarage, and afford wonderful views onto a wisteria-clad terrace and onwards to the lawns and borders.

We pride ourselves on locally sourced and freshly prepared food served at your table, and have no doubt that our extensive menu will tempt you at whatever time of day you choose to visit.

The tearoom is renowned for its range of very special home-made cakes. Besides the traditional Garden House Cream Tea (two scones with strawberry preserve and clotted cream), current favourites cakes appear to be Devon apple, lemon drizzle as well as coffee and pistachio - to name just a few. Items from the Tea Menu are served throughout the day.

Lunch is served from 12 noon until 3.00 pm and provides a wide choice of both hot and cold meals ranging from freshly prepared sandwiches, hearty soups to Garden House favourites such as Homity Pie and Celebration Chicken. All hot meals are listed daily on the tearoom blackboard.

Most of our meals can be served at half price for children and, of course, the Langage Farm ice-creams are always available.

We are always pleased to cater for special dietary needs if prior notice is given.

Additional Services
The Plant Sales Centre at The Garden House is located to the left of the entrance and is open to garden and non-garden visitors alike for the normal opening times and months of opening that apply to the garden.

We offer an excellent range of plants reflective of those grown in the garden. Some of the more unusual items are included under our entry in RHS Plant Finder 2008-2009. As some of these are only available in relatively small numbers we do recommend you call in advance of your visit to check their availability. We regret that we do not currently offer a mail order facility.

Our friendly staff will be delighted to advise you on the suitability of particular plants for your garden. Gift Vouchers are available, along with a small selection of excellent quality garden sundries including Burgon and Ball hand tools. We are also plased to offer a range of baskets by master craftsman in the trade, Ian Strugnell.
