Kedleston was built between 1759 and 1765 for the Curzon family, who have lived in the area since the 12th century. The magnificent neo-classical hall was designed with a grand central block for lavish entertaining and displaying an extensive collection of paintings and sculpture, flanked by two wings containing the domestic and family quarters. Visitors have been welcome since the Hall was completed, and the family continue to live in the family pavilion maintaining their long association with Kedleston.
The state floor boasts the most complete and least altered set of Robert Adam interiors in the country, with the magnificent state rooms retaining their great collections of paintings, sculpture and furniture. On the ground floor, visitors can enjoy Lord Curzon’s Eastern Museum, displaying a remarkable range of objects collected on his travels in Asia and while he was Viceroy of India (1899-1905).
The gardens have been restored in part to an 18th century pleasure ground and the Hall is set in over 800 acres of parkland, also designed by Adam and including a fine bridge, fishing pavilion and a series of lakes and cascades. All Saints Church (in the ownership of the Churches Conservation Trust) is the only survivor of the medieval village of Kedleston and contains many of the family monuments.

Kedleston Hall is a splendid 18th century classical hall, designed by the famous architect Robert Adam. It was built to impress and astound all who visited. The Hall has a series of magnificent state rooms, including the Saloon.
The picturesque setting of the house includes gardens, parkland, lakes, cascades and a classical bridge. Kedleston Hall has easy access to Derby.
The Saloon at Kedleston Hall is licensed for civil wedding ceremonies. Photographs can be taken on the South Lawn.
