PROPERTY OF THE NATIONAL TRUST
Standing in 90 acres of gardens and parkland landscaped by a contemporary of Capability Brown, Hartwell House has both Jacobean and Georgian facades. This beautiful country house is a Grade 1 listed building, and was the residence in exile of King Louis XVIII of France from 1809 to 1814. The large ground floor reception rooms, with oak panelling and decorated ceilings, have antique furniture and fine paintings that evoke the elegance of the 18th century.
There are 46 individually designed bedrooms and suites, 30 of which are in the house and are non smoking, and 16 in the Hartwell Court, the restored 18th century stables. The Soane dining room at Hartwell is the setting for excellent food awarded 3 AA Rosettes, and there are also two private dining rooms. The Old Rectory, Hartwell with its 2 acres of gardens and swimming pool, provides superb accommodation and offers great comfort and privacy.
The Hartwell Spa situated adjacent to the hotel includes an indoor heated pool, whirlpool spa bath, steam room, saunas, gymnasium and four beauty salons.
The versatile Hartwell Rooms can be used for wedding ceremonies, receptions, private dining and meetings. Situated in the Vale of Aylesbury, the hotel is only 45 minutes from London Heathrow and Luton airports, one hour from London and 20 miles from Oxford. Blenheim Palace, Waddesdon Manor and Woburn Abbey are just some of the nearby attractions. Dogs are permitted only in Hartwell Court bedrooms. Owned and restored by Historic House Hotels Limited
