This 19th century hotel is now under new ownership. We offer a diverse menu of international, seasonal cuisine in our beautiful restaurant supported by Bibendum, one of the most respected wine merchants in the U.K. and local Kent brewer Shepherd Neame. When you eat in our dining room we want you to feel so comfortable that nothing will distract you from the simple excellence of our food.
The setting is informal, the menus short enough to sustain a consistent quality, but wide enough to offer something for nearly everyone.
We secure fresh local ingredients, and concentrate on cooking them in ways that bring out their natural qualities. This isn't about showing off: we think that food should be presented tastefully, in every sense.
Because we want to reflect the best on offer in the area you'll find fish always form an important part of our menus. Every dish we serve is prepared from fresh ingredients in our own kitchens.
Our staff have all been carefully trained: they have the knowledge to be helpful when you need it, for instance recommending wines to go with a particular dish, but they won't push this knowledge where it's not wanted, and they work to be efficient without compromising the informality of the setting. When you finish eating we want you to feel that you've enjoyed exceptionally good food, but also feel as relaxed as you would at home.
