Winsford Walled Garden online: information and bookings
Winsford Walled Garden is an extraordinary late Victorian garden in North Devon open daily to the public. Designed as a Victorian walled flower garden in 1883 with an adjoining vegetable garden surrounded by 13 state-of-the-art Victorian greenhouses built of teak by the same company that supplied Queen Victoria and the botanic gardens of Sydney and Hong Kong.
The walled garden today is a plantsman's paradise that continues the original theme.
Rediscovered in 1999, Winsford walled garden has moved forward to create something both unique and progressive.
Sympathetic conservation is used to preserve historic Victorian horticultural features that are as relevant today as when they were built. These features help make the garden one of the most stunning and informative places to visit during your Devon holiday in the south west of England.
Subtropical climbers cover the Victorian walls. The structural planting is taking shape using many Cornus, Conifer and Pittosporum varieties. While herbaceous and unusual subtropical perennials such as Cannas and Hedychiums are woven seemlessly together to produce inspirational views at every turn.
