Mottisfont Abbey online: information and bookings

Set on the west bank of the River Test, Mottisfont Abbey is surrounded by sweeping lawns with ancient trees and walled gardens. A former medieval priory, the abbey has been adapted over the centuries by a series of owners, and now contains a drawing room decorated by Rex Whistler and Derek Hill’s 20th century picture collection.

The extensive gardens have been remodelled gradually during the 20th century, Norah Lindsay designed a parterre and Geofrey Jellicoe redesigned the north front with an avenue of limes and an octagon of yews. The rose garden, designed in 1972 by Graham Stuart Thomas after the National Trust had taken over the property, now contains the National Collection of Old Fashioned Roses. A particular feature of the grounds are the old trees; one, the Great Plane, is thought to be the largest of its kind in the Country.

WEDDINGS IN ROMSEY, HAMPSHIRE
This handsome house, once a 12th-century Augustinian priory stands amidst sweeping lawns and glorious gardens, quietly set alongside the River Test.

The stunning flora and fauna give wedding guests ample opportunity for magnificent photographs, and to enjoy perfectly presented cuisine on such a special day.

The magnificent plane trees, riverside walks, walled gardens and the National collection of Old-Fashioned Roses make Mottisfont Abbey one of Hampshire's most precious venues.

Mottisfont Abbey can offer great flexibility and is particularly ideal for an intimate ceremony, followed by drinks and canapes on the lawns and a reception inside the Abbey or for larger numbers, one of our marquee sites can be used.

The property holds weddings and receptions only on a Friday (except last week of May and all of June, plus Easter Friday and half term holidays because it is open to the public at this time).

Receptions only, in a marquee, can generally be accommodated at any time apart from the month of June.

In case of alteration, please check prices, opening times and any specific important information before booking or visiting
