Trewithen means ‘house of the trees’ and the name truly describes this fine early Georgian House in its splendid setting of wood and parkland. Country Life described the house as ‘one of the outstanding West Country houses of the 18th century’. The gardens at Trewithen are outstanding and of international fame. Created at the beginning of the 20th century by George Johnstone, they contain a wide and rare collection of flowering shrubs. Some of the magnolias and rhododendron species in the garden are known throughout the world. They are the only attraction in this county awarded three stars by Michelin.

Location: OS Ref. SW914 476. S of A390 between Grampound and Probus villages. 7m WSW of St Austell.
