Port Gaverne Hotel online: information and bookings

A wonderfully nostalgic old coastal inn nestling in a secluded cove close to the ancient Cornish fishing village of Port Isaac. Port Gaverne is quiet and restful: a small beach, one or two boats pulled up above the waterline; rocks and pools to explore; an endless sea and huge sky, with spectacular sunsets to enjoy. Here you can step outside the door and sunbathe or swim in crystal-clear waters from the small beach; or explore the North Cornwall Heritage Coast, noted for being one of the most picturesque and staggeringly beautiful stretches of our whole coastline.

A short walk up the hill brings you into a tiny fishing village with narrow streets, pretty cottages and shops, and a fish market on the quayside. In the evening there is our small hotel with a warm and friendly, well-stocked bar; a pretty dining room with truly delicious, fresh, home cooked food; comfortable, fully-serviced bedrooms in the inn or old fisherman’s cottages, self-contained with magnificent living facilities; smiling faces and a relaxed atmosphere.

In North Cornwall, you will discover one of the last unspoilt places in Britain, packed full of places to see and visit, things to do. A history filled with stories of smugglers, shipwrecks, pagan worship and legends. Here are ancient battlefields, haunted churches and remote countryside as well as deserted beaches.

Restaurant
Port Gaverne welcomes our new chef, Tristan Halliday, who is already busy revamping our menus and updating the bar food at the hotel. He is mentoring our younger chefs and ensuring that all food going out tastes fantastic and looks great. The emphasis is still very much on ‘fresh as possible, local as possible’ and we aren’t ditching all your old favourites, but Tristan is adding innovative, modern dishes to the menus and he’s changing them daily. So there’s always a reason to come back and try something new!

Further Information
We all want the best of both worlds. A quiet and peaceful spot where we can really get away from it all. Time and space to walk on the beach without disturbance, wander between rock pools, relax in a sunny garden, and eat delicious food.

At the same time, we like to be close to bustling villages and towns, stunning country houses, great sweeps of coastline and the very best that North Cornwall has to offer. Port Gaverne is the perfect location if you want all this and more.

This secluded cove is five minutes walk from Port Isaac, a 14th-century fishing village with winding lanes, whitewashed cottages and a wide range of restaurants. (It’s a bit hilly so fill up on our proper Cornish breakfasts for extra energy before you set off.) There are also numerous walks along the coastline, which is famed for its beauty, and a huge sandy beach at Polzeath only five miles away.

Just some of the attractions nearby include Lanhydrock House, Tintagel, St. Enodoc golf course, popular Padstow, and, of course, Bodmin Moor. We've listed some of the things that you can do here.
