The historic county town of Bedford, built upon the banks of the River Great Ouse is widely acclaimed as having one of the finest riverside settings in England.

Centrally located between London, Oxford and Cambridge and within a 2 hour journey of 80% of the population, Bedford is easy to get to and offers plenty to see and do for a day visit or short break

With the renowned collections of the Cecil Higgins Art Gallery and Bedford Museum, and the innovation of the BCA Gallery at it’s core and close by The John Bunyan Museum. John Bunyan, the 17th century tinker- turned preacher and author of, one of the most well known books of all time, ‘The Pilgrim’s Progress’. Born in the parish of Elstow, his work as a tinker took him all over the county of Bedfordshire and it is believed that many of the hamlets and villages he visited influenced his writing. Discover for yourself Bedford’s history, spanning more than a thousand years in a trail leading around the Castle Mound and through the Castle Gardens. .

Out of town the country lanes will take you through some of the prettiest villages in the county, with traditional pubs, open farms and typical English village activities including annual fetes, open gardens and church cream teas. Unique attractions in the 306 Bomb Group & The Glenn Miller Museums and Wild Britain.

No lack of excitement here either with skydiving, paintballing, monster truck and 4x4driving, drag racing, water-skiing, FI driving, target shooting, horse-riding, safari park adventures and stately homes all within easy distance of the town.
