The definitive Inn should offer rest and sustanance for the weary traveller. You can tell that over the 28 years The Buchanan family have been at The White Swan we elevated that to a world wide reputation before and since TripAdvisor. Many of our customers have been coming for years and we aim to continually improve so that new guests like you will also want to become old friends.
Our rooms are beautiful, comfortable, clean and packed with details. and sparkling white bathrooms whether you choose a traditional room or one of our fabulous Hideaways. The bed is as comfortable as sleeping on a cloud and every guest enjoys exclusive access to our lovely Bothy, a charming place just for you to unwind in.
The food we serve you is simple, local and delicious. Unless with feathers or antlers, all our meat comes from The Ginger Pig, the famous London butcher who's farm is actually seven miles from The White Swan.
The bar is warm and inviting and the hub of market town life serving well kept real ales. Ice & freshly sliced lemon are a standard as well as at least eight great wines by the glass to suit all pallets & pockets.
The cellar is well stocked and the fine wine list has an emphasis on old claret from Saint Emilion. As members of the Jurade de St Emilion, two generations of Buchanan's have been granted the 'freedom' of the cellars there.
Restaurant
Darren has been at The White Swan for nearly 25 years, his number two Carl Muscroft has worked along side him for 18 years. Even the youngest member of the Chef's brigade has been here for five years. Darren keeps looking at how food is evolving but he doesn't follow fads.
We aren't bothered what the AA or Michelin say about us really and they won't persuade us to put cappacino froths on anything. Having said that we have been in the Michelin Guide for over 100 years unbroken and we have had an AA rosette since the scheme started in 1997. We are bothered about what the Good Food Guide says about us and more importantly we are bothered what you think about us. We are so confident that you will be delighted that we offer a no quibble money back guarantee so long as you tell us if things aren't quite right at the time!
