Set suberbly in the Lorton/Buttermere valley this unique award winning C17th Grade II listed house is full of elegant antiques and original features such as flagged floors, oak beams and stone fireplaces, where log fires crackle on colder days. There are 6 luxurious bedrooms, all en-suite, two with oak four posters and all with uninterrupted views of the surrounding mountains.

The cooking is a particular attraction and Hazel produces a fine range of traditional set 3 or 5 course English Dinners, with local ingredients used wherever possible.

Starters may be Liver Pate with Port Jelly or Silloth Potted Shrimps. Soups may be Cream of Fennel, Mushroom, Carrot and Orange to name but a few. The main courses include Pheasant Casserole, Local Poached Salmon with a Pesto Sauce, Steak and Kidney with Herb Dumplings.

Puddings are a speciality and are traditional - Spotted Dick with Custard, Ginger Pudding with Butterscotch Sauce or something lighter such as Syllabub, Crème Brulee etc. Local and traditional cheeses round off the meal.

Originally built in 1650, New House Farm has retained many of its original features but combines them with a touch of elegance and sophistication to create an atmosphere of a bygone era. Sitting rooms with open log fires, individually designed bedrooms with heavenly beds, delicious duvets and wonderful changing views go to create this unique private venue. The secluded gardens, babbling brooks, enchanting pond and stunning Lake District scenery add the finishing touches to a fairytale wedding and provide the perfect backdrop for memorable romantic photographs.

The wedding receptions are held in an original Lakeland barn which has been restored to the highest standards with traditional materials. Bright and airy with a graceful combination of rustic chic and modern facilities the oak beams are offset by the natural wooden floor. The barn can cater for up to 120 people with the added benefit of having its own professional kitchen. This stunning blank canvas allows you to put your style and mark on your special day.

The Property lies between the villages of Lorton and Buttermere, nine miles due west of Keswick and six miles south of Cockermouth on the B5289.
