Hertford Museum online: information and bookings
Since 1913 Hertford Museum has occupied a charming 17th century town house in the centre of the county town of Hertford. Founded by the Andrews brothers, prominent local businessmen; their initial collection reflected all wonders of the world which they brought to the people of Hertford.
The collection has now swelled to contain over 50,000 artifacts including archaeology, costumes, toys, domestic appliances and military items; also the odd murder weapon, each with a fascinating story to tell.
There are lively exhibitions covering aspects of Hertford’s past as well as a programme of events and activities to suit all ages, including evening talks for adults. Our activity room is always open for families to drop in.
Hertford Museum works with schools to provide a range of services geared around the National Curriculum.
There is a ‘Jacobean’ style knot garden where tea and cake are offered every Saturday in the summer.
The museum shop offers a wide variety of gifts and free broadband internet access is also available but booking is required.
