Blair Castle has been the ancient home and fortress of the Earls and Dukes of Atholl for over 700 years and has the unique distinction of having the only remaining private army in Europe, the Atholl Highlanders. You can walk through some 30 fully furnished rooms of infinite variety displaying beautiful furniture, a fine collection of paintings, arms and armour, china, lace and embroidery and other unique treasures which present a stirring picture of Scottish life from the 16th Century to the present day.

Additionally, the Castle grounds are quite exceptional; Diana's Grove is a plantation first laid out in 1737 by the second Duke of Atholl. Some of the giant conifers, which include Douglas Firs and Grand Firs, reach almost 60 metres. Hercules Garden, at some nine acres, is the largest walled garden under cultivation in Scotland. Dating from the 1740s and recently restored to its original layout and content, its delights are now open to the public.
