This award-winning house and exhibition details the disastrous 1989 fire and subsequent restoration of this fine 17th Centruy house, set high on the South Downs. The fully restored Georgian interior displays rescued paintings, fine ceramics, textiles, furniture and a famous dolls house. Visit the nostalgic servants rooms, shown as in 1874, when HG Wells' mother was housekeeper. Glorious Gardens with magnificent views laid out in picturesque style, primarily foliage with flowering shrubs, bulbs and herbaceous underplanting.
