Cliveden is unique. One of the world’s finest luxury hotels, this grand stately home is set in the heart of the Berkshire countryside, surrounded by magnificent formal gardens and parkland. It is arguably the finest of luxury hotels near London and Heathrow Airport. From the moment you are ushered into the beautiful Great Hall with its grand fireplace, oak panelling and priceless artworks, our aim is to ensure you feel like a treasured, personal guest. You’ll be treated to the very highest standards of quality, with excellence in every detail. Where else can you be surrounded by such extraordinary extravagance and remarkable refinement, but at the same time feel so welcomed and at ease? Cliveden is, at heart, a charming country house hotel where you can come away to escape, relax and be indulged at every opportunity.
The house itself is a grand Italianate mansion with a palpable sense of history. For over three centuries it has been dedicated to the pursuit of pleasure, power and politics and been called home by some of the most famous names in English and American history, including three Dukes, the Prince of Wales and, of course, the Astors.
Guests have included every British monarch since George I as well as Charlie Chaplin, Winston Churchill, Harold Macmillan, President Roosevelt, George Bernard Shaw, John Profumo and Christine Keeler, and many other well-known names from the past and present.

Facilities
In Lady Astor’s day there was much talk of the “Cliveden Set”, the group of talented and influential people who became her regular guests. In truth, the house had always attracted the outstanding individuals of the day and this tradition still continues.
Cliveden was originally conceived as a hunting lodge for a man who cared for little beyond “pleasure, frolic or extravagant diversion.” His legacy is still evident in the sheer range of entertainments available today. Cliveden is now the definitive luxury country house hotel.
In the Cliveden Boathouse, there's a lovingly restored flotilla of the most beautiful vintage launches, that are available to you for cruising the Thames. There's no better way to arrive at Henley Royal Regatta or Henley Festival than in one of these exquisite craft...the utmost in style.

Restaurant
Cliveden has a long tradition of fine food and warm hospitality. George Bernard Shaw enjoyed many a fine meal here as a guest of Lord and Lady Astor and would be equally enamoured by the first class cuisine offered at Cliveden today.
Executive Head Chef, Daniel Galmiche, believes passionately in sourcing only the finest ingredients through the best local, national and international suppliers, to ensure the food prepared in the kitchens of Cliveden is of the highest quality and consistency.
Tennis and squash courts, a fully equipped gymnasium and the Pavilion Spa are all provided within the grounds, while horse-riding, golf, fishing, shooting and archery are available locally. Legoland, Windsor Castle and Windsor Great Park are only a short drive away. Finally, the von Essen fleet of single and twin engined helicopters is at your disposal with a heli-pad in the grounds. Not only can they transfer you to and from home, office or airport, but they are available for pleasure flights over those sights you might otherwise miss.
