Howard's House Hotel is set in two acres of glorious gardens in one of the most beautiful villages in Wiltshire.

During the renovations of 1989 nine luxury bedrooms were created, each one with its own bathroom, bathrobes, direct dial phone, TV and hairdryer. Floral prints and pastel shades combine to enhance the feeling of informality and relaxation.

Whatever the season, the sitting room offers warmth and comfort. In summer the French windows open onto the terrace, allowing the fragrance of jasmine to pervade the room, and in winter, the imposing fireplace takes centre stage with a roaring log fire. With the soft pastel shades and bold fabrics of the décor sharing the room with original stone plaques of King Charles I and the Lion of England, the fusion of old and new comes together to create an atmosphere of calm and restfulness.

The elegant restaurant offers both Table d'Hote and A La Carte menus of the highest quality. With French windows open to the garden in summer, or curtains cosily drawn against the winter chill, this is the perfect place for an intimate dinner for two or to enjoy the company of one's friends in a larger gathering.

Head Chef, Nick Wentworth, came to the hotel in 2003. His approach to cooking is for the food to speak for itselt. The finest ingredients, locally sourced when appropriate, are combined to produce dishes of deceptive simplicity. With a strong emphasis on seasonality Nick makes the most of local game during the winter months, locally grown asparagus during the early summer, and vegetables, fruit, salads and herbs, many of these grown in our own garden, as they become available.
