If you try and imagine the most beautiful English Country Pub you could do no better than The Swan at Swinbrook. Two miles east of Burford by a bridge on the River Windrush rest this ancient pub. Attached to the Mill Cottage with the river running through it and right by the most picturesque of Cotswold cricket pitches you could not find a more genuine and timeless location.

The imaginative pub food has gained an extremely good reputation locally - it is a good balance between traditional and modern English cuisine.

There are few traditional pubs offering the same quality of Cotswold accommodation available at The Swan. Nicola has brought many of her own personal touches to the styling and interior décor of our self-contained Cotswold stone barn and the result is stunning.

Not only can we cater for couples and families who are visiting the local area on holiday, but we’re also popular with business people who are looking for an affordable place to stay.

We have six rooms available, all finished to the standard of a Cotswold boutique hotel. It’s a real taste of luxury in the Cotswolds.

Everyone enjoys good food, but no one wants their favourite local gastro pub to become too distracted or pretentious. At The Swan, we like to think we have found the perfect balance and were thrilled when the Good Pub Guide agreed – naming us as Oxfordshire County Dining Pub of the Year in their 2009 edition.

We believe in serving high-quality, seasonal dishes sourced from the local area. The strong reputation we’ve established for our food means a great deal to us – as does the willingness of some of our guests to travel long distances to join us for lunch on the borders of Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire.

As well as being known for our attention to detail both in the kitchen and the restaurant itself, we’re meticulous about where we purchase our food. The raw ingredients are every bit as important as the finished product.
