Mary Queen of Scots’ Visitor Centre online: information and bookings
This impressive fortified house would have been nearly new when Mary Queen of Scots visited the town in 1566. Set in a garden of pear trees, it is just a short walk from the centre of town and Jedburgh Abbey. The centre gives a moving insight into Mary's life, with displays that include a shoe and a watch that belonged to the Queen as well as her death mask and tapestries depicting important events in her life.
Visitors can choose to take a self-guiding Audio Tour and there are foreign language and children's guides available to enhance any visit. Wheelchair Access is limited to the ground floor and shop area where there is an audio-visual display telling Mary's story.
Pre-booked tour groups are welcome.
