Raemoir House Hotel, is a beautiful privately owned and run Scottish country house hotel close to Aberdeen but in the glorious landscape of Royal Deeside. The Georgian mansion house sits in wide parkland a mile to the north of Banchory in easy reach of all the famous Victorian Aberdeenshire tourist attractions.
The main house, was built in 1817 but extensively developed in the Victorian age, when Balmoral was first becoming known as the favourite retreat of the Royal Family. It still is today, with HRH Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall and Rothsay regularly escaping the limelight to enjoy the fresh air and countryside of Aberdeenshire. The main building is constructed from the traditional and typical Aberdeenshire granite that is so famously bright in the sunlight that Aberdeen is known as the silver city. <
Additional to the 20 bedrooms in the main house, is a further 6 located in the even older building known as the Ha’ Hoose. This name derives from the term Hall House, as it was simply constructed with a hall downstairs and a gallery with three rooms upstairs. It was in fact the main Raemoir house until the larger one was built directly in front of it 100 years later. The Ha' Hoose provides 3 ground floor bedrooms. AB31 4ED
Restaurant
The Raemoir holds 2 AA rosettes for its fine food and has consistently held this since 1996. Scottish head chef, Matt Dawson, leads a very accomplished brigade and is well supported by colleagues at Castleton. The recently formed relationship of the two hotels is proving very successful as ideas, recipes and ingredients are regularly shared, none could be more popular than the rare breed Tamworth pork, born in Aberdeenshire, raised at Castleton and served at both hotels.
