Quay House Visitor Centre online: information and bookings

The Quay House Visitor Centre brings the history of the Historic Quayside to life with lively displays, illustrations and artefacts. Discover the history of Exeter in just 15 minutes with the exciting audio-visual presentation "Exeter, 2000 Years of History."

The centre also provides tourist information, treasure hunts for young visitors, an accommodation booking service, and gift shop selling local pottery, replica maps and a wide range of local interest books.

The Quay House was built in 1680-1 at the height of Exeter's woollen cloth industry, and was used to store cloth and other goods. The building originally had a large overhanging roof, which protected cargoes as they were unloaded from lighters. Nearby is the fine brick Custom House, built in 1680.
