The Gardens and Arboretum located in Essex, feature landscaped woodland walks and footpaths, with vistas across the lakes to the Millennium Walk and the 18th Century Walled Garden, recently remodelled to provide a stunning combination of contemporary and traditional landscaping and planting. The Visitor Centre offers a Tea room, Gift Shop and Plant Centre.
The development of the Arboretum is an ongoing project to achieve a vast collection of shrubs and trees from all over the temperate world. The collection is planted on a geographical theme, so plants from the principal regions of the world are grouped together.
Weddings and Conferences
The Coach House
The Coach House is a superb traditional building set in the magnificent grounds of the historic country estate of Marks Hall.
French windows open onto the terrace overlooking the formal gardens, which are in bloom from May to September. The Arboretum, ornamental lakes, cascades and the 17th Century Walled Garden are all accessible to guests. These idyllic surroundings provide an ideal backdrop for photographs of your special day.
The Coach House is available from May to September and can accommodate up to 120 seated guests and 200 for a buffet reception. For wedding receptions the Coach House is yours for 48 hours. This means that for a reception taking place on a Saturday, access is from 12 noon on Friday to 12 noon on Sunday. This will enable you to prepare the Coach House for your memorable day.
Additional Services
The Marks Hall Plant Centre is located opposite the Visitor Centre, Peter Rust provides and maintains a range of herbaceous perennials mirroring the variety of plants in the Arboretum.
