The historic county town of Bedford, built upon the banks of the River Great Ouse is widely acclaimed as having one of the finest riverside settings in England.

With the renowned collections of the Cecil Higgins Art Gallery and Bedford Museum, and the innovation of the BCA Gallery at itís core and close by The John Bunyan Museum. John Bunyan, the 17th century tinker- turned preacher and author of, one of the most well known books of all time, ĎThe Pilgrimís Progressí. Born in the parish of Elstow, his work as a tinker took him all over the county of Bedfordshire and it is believed that many of the hamlets and villages he visited influenced his writing. Discover for yourself Bedfordís history, spanning more than a thousand years in a trail leading around the Castle Mound and through the Castle Gardens. .
